Breast Cancer surgery removes the cancer cells and some normal tissues surrounding it to stop cancer. It is of various types and is carried out due to various reasons.

Mastectomy, which removes entire breasts, is done with or without reconstruction, along with removing lymph glands from the armpit. Removal of lymph is also termed Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy, Dissection, or Auxiliary Sampling. If there are chances of preserving breasts, we go for the lumpectomy. In Lumpectomy, we remove the cancerous lumps without removing the entire breasts with or without plastic surgery using oncology principles (Oncoplasty) and removing nodes in the axilla. Removal of Nodes in the Axilla is also termed Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy, Dissection, or Auxillary Sampling.
