Description : Dr. Esha Pai, has been practicing oncology for the past 7 years in Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and HCG Cancer Hospital, Bangalore. She has worked for the last 1 year in Varanasi at Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Cancer Center (HBCH and MPMMMCC – Tata Memorial Hospital initiatives).
She did her MBBS from M.S. Ramaiah Medical College, Banglore and her MS General Surgery from BJ Medical College and Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad. She topped her batch and secured the Gold Medal at Tata Memorial Hospital in MCh Surgical Oncology. She has also done Fellowship in GI Surgical Oncology and Thoracic surgical oncology from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and Tokyo, Japan.
She has performed over 2000 surgeries, including laparoscopy, and is well-versed with all aspects of cancer surgery and chemotherapy, with extensive experience in head and neck cancer, breast cancers (especially breast conservation surgery and oncoplasty), gynaecological cancers (cervix, ovary, uterus and vulva), and gastrointestinal cancers (gall bladder, pancreas, liver, colorectal, stomach and esophagus).
She has presented her work not only at many national meetings but also at International meetings in Miami, USA and Fukuoka, Japan. She also has several scientific publications, including a book chapter on pancreatic surgery in an American textbook (AHPBA). She is also a reviewer for scientific articles submitted for publication in peer-reviewed oncology journals.
She is passionate about cancer care and believes that early detection and speedy treatment is the key to cancer cure. She is not only known for her surgical skills but also for her empathic and holistic treatment of the cancer patient. Her patients and their family look to her for inspiration and positive reinforcement and her motto is “Patient before self”.
